- Location:
Music streaming platform Pandora has enlisted French filmmaker Michael Gondry to direct its latest advert, which takes viewers on a journey through album artwork history.
The spot opens with a girl running down the steps of the Morrison Hotel – iconized by The Doors – and past Prince’s Purple Rain motorbike. She goes on to pass the graffitied toilet of the Rolling Stones’ Beggars Banquet and the cemetery of Metallica’s Master of Puppets, before diving into a pool to swim with Nirvana’s Nevermind baby.
Other albums featured include Starboy by The Weeknd, Nothing Was The Same by Drake and Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division.
The spot forms part of Pandora’s Sounds Like You campaign, which aims to celebrate individuality and diverse music tastes and has been created by the brand’s in-house creative and design teams. DigitasLBi San Francisco partnered on. digital and out-of-home production, as well as media strategy.
Nick Bartle, chief marketing officer at Pandora, said: “Music lovers today have more complex and eclectic tastes than ever. ‘Sounds Like You’ embodies Pandora’s unique ability to deliver a music experience completely personal to each listener.”
