Online publishing tool WordPress.com is kicking off its first large-scale national brand campaign since its launch more than a decade ago.

WordPress.com, which powers millions of sites, from bloggers and small businesses to CNN, News Corp. and Microsoft, will encourage aspiring entrepreneurs, creators and more to 'Do Anything' via a quirky creative campaign from Interesting Development.

The 30-second spot resembles a fairly straightforward call to pursue one’s dreams, until it takes an unexpected turn and reveals a mad scientist whose (perhaps already realized) dream is to shrink everyone on Earth. This mad scientist story will continue to play out across two print ads in The New Yorker and at the microsite shrinkify.com.

The TV spot will run on national networks including A&E, AMC, Bloomberg TV, CNBC, CNN, The History Channel, MSNBC and National Geographic. A separate audio spot will air on popular podcasts including NPR’s 'How I Built This' and The New York Times’s 'The Daily.'

Interesting Development conceived of the mad scientist-themed creative campaign and oversaw TV, print and podcast advertising, working alongside in-house teams at WordPress on the microsite.
