Apple has taken the unique position of issuing a statement announcing a ban of fart apps on the Apple Watch.

Fart.Watch, a soundboard app which launched with the smartwatch on Friday (24 April), has been rejected by the Californian firm despite similar apps existing on the iPhone.

The app, which enables pranksters to hide their iPhone and trigger bouts of flatulence from it using the Apple Watch wearable, has been rejected from the platform by Apple.

The developer of Fart.Watch told Cult of Mac, that Apple said on its rejection: “We noticed that your Apple Watch app is primarily a fart app. We do not accept fart apps on Apple Watch.”

The developer claimed the app will "revolutionize fart sound delivery in a beautifully designed and intuitive interface," adding that they had “packed dozens of high-quality, lossless fart sounds into one tiny device".

The app assumedly contravenes Apple’s strategy of marketing the smartwatch as a luxury fashion time piece as watches from rival companies such as Rolex and Tag Heuer are also incapable of generating flatulence noises.
