School of Communication Arts students James Lucking and Will Wright have come up with their own version of the growing nek nomination trend on Facebook, by urging people that instead of downing pints, they should donate a pint of blood.

The Donate and Nominate scheme, which launched last week, grew to a level which saw NHS Give Blood media and communication centre contact the students to ask them to alter the message, following an abundance of young people showing up stating that they have to donate blood within 24 hours and centres have had to turn them away due to not having booked appointments or being registered.

People are encouraged to share pictures of videos of them donating blood, as well as sharing the message on Facebook to their friends.
