Brand Chart

With less than 24 hours until arguably the biggest sporting event since London 2012 kicks off, this week’s viral chart was no doubt going to be inundated with football references and legends.

Nike have stolen the crown of the brand chart this week, scoring a final win for pre-World Cup Ads, with the release of the third part of their #riskeverything campaign. Nike teamed up with Wieden + Kennedy and Passion to create the beautifully crafted “The Last Game” – a five-minute animated feature, starring some of the world’s greatest footballers who are on a mission to save Football from the villainous mastermind, the Scientist.

Nike, like any football fanatic, wanted to express their belief that the game should be majestic, daring and brilliant – it’s about the risks taken, as after all “there’s no greater danger than playing it safe”.

Lets be honest…There’s nothing more that the Internet loves than a Cat. How about a Cat AND a Kitten? Throw some dry humour in to the mix, and you’ve got a pre-packaged viral hit in your hands. It seems cat food brand Friskies took full advantage of this recipe, and recruited social news and entertainment mavericks, Buzzfeed, for their latest ad campaign.Ze Frank, the Executive Vice President of Buzzfeed, AKA “The Internet’s Morgan Freeman”, narrates the video in character as an older, wiser, cat giving advice to a new kitten that has just been welcomed into the household. The ad, titled “Dear Kitten”, has racked up over 8 million views since it was first published on June 5th, and has proved hugely popular with viewers who have created the hashtag #dearkitten, to express their love for the commercial. It just goes to show that cats still, and probably always will, rule the World Wide Web! Meow…!

UGC & Entertainment ChartSimilarly to the Brand Chart, this weeks UGC has had its fair share of World Cup video entrants, including one from the highly talented Rémi Gaillard , who celebrates the start of Brazil 2014 World Cup by wearing all the finalists’ official football jerseys whilst executing 32 incredible football trick shots. The video has received an impressive 5.7 million views in just 5 days, and has been shared over 50,000 times across the web.

For those of you who have not succumbed to Football Fever, and were hoping for something a little less “Brazil” and little more “ANYTHING else” to get your viral fix this week, thank your lucky stars for the wonders of science! This week, the popular YouTuber CrazyRussianHacker has made it into the UGC chart with the latest of his crazy experiments, this time in the form of boiling Coca Cola. In the video, 500ml of Coke is boiled in a saucepan for 25 minutes, with the liquid turning to a dark gooey paste – consisting only of the left out carmelised sugar and flavor. Warning, not for the diet conscious!

Squeak of the WeekThis week’s squeak of the week is courtesy of “Katz” and features two adorably talented kittens - Tulip and Daisy – who have mastered the art of the the head bang!
