Promo for new film will have viewers wondering whether the insurance company covers property damage caused by ghosts.

What’s spookier than a haunted house? State Farm says an uninsured haunted house.

State Farm Insurance and Walt Disney Studios recently released an ad promoting Disney’s Haunted Mansion, a new supernatural comedy with a star-studded cast, including Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Rosario Dawson, Dan Levy, Jamie Lee Curtis and Jared Leto. The film hits theaters in the United States on July 28.

In the spot, Jake from State Farm assists the mansion’s new owner, Gabbie (played by Dawson), as she discusses some of her hypothetical homeownership insurance needs – such as a chandelier falling out of nowhere. He happily answers her questions, telling her about State Farm’s agent and filing a claim on the brand’s mobile app. The film closes on a jump-scare as the two walk in on an apparition playing a pipe organ.

The new spot, ideated and developed by creative agency The Marketing Arm (TMA), is part of State Farm’s ongoing ‘What If’ campaign, which leans into people’s common concerns about the potential outcomes of owning a home. The campaign will span TV, streaming services, social media and more.
