The Full House actor first starred in a spot for the steakhouse chain back in 1987.

Sizzler is back. Actually, it never left – and neither did actor Jodie Sweetin.

On Tuesday, the fast-casual restaurant chain released a new ad campaign that recreates a Sizzler spot from 1987 starring Sweetin, known for later playing Stephanie Tanner in the beloved sitcom Full House.

The ad, entitled ‘Still as Great as Ever,’ opens with a clip of Sweetin in the vintage spot, then cuts to the present-day actress, who sells viewers on Sizzler’s made-to-order steaks and unlimited salad bar. However, between her selling points, Sweetin cannot help but sell herself and her acting chops.

“I loved coming back to Sizzler to do a commercial 36 years after my first one,” said Sweetin. “It’s great to see it is still open and still serving my favorite meal, steak and unlimited shrimp.”

Still As Great As Ever marks Sizzler’s first campaign with its new agency of record, Mischief @ No Fixed Address; the agency tells The Drum it is tasked with “helping build the brand for the long-term.”

“Sizzler’s marketing team isn’t afraid to put out work that understands who they are,” said Hunter Fine, creative director at Mischief @ No Fixed Address. “They want to be relevant in culture again and get the people who grew up with their steak, seafood and salad bar to share it with their kids. So when we found the 1987 commercial of Jodie Sweetin at Sizzler, we knew we had to bring her back to comically let people know that, just like her acting, Sizzler is still as great as ever.”

The spot also aims to put Sizzler back in the center of culture by reminding the public that the chain still exists. According to EveryMenuPrices, the chain had more than 270 US locations during its peak.

“Hey, we’re still here. What was true in 1987 is true today and will be true decades from now – Sizzler is the space where families come together to celebrate each other and eat good food at a great price,” said Sasha Shennikov, marketing director at Sizzler. “It was time to remind everyone and partnering with Jodie Sweetin to recreate her iconic ad felt like a fun way to do that. But this is just the beginning... Expect to see Sizzler at the forefront of culture in unexpected and unignorable ways.”
