Performance running company Brooks has cast Stranger Things star and avid runner David Harbour to provide the voiceover for its first-ever global campaign designed to celebrate runners of all kinds, from all places.

Every step of a runner’s journey is cause for celebration, says Brooks’ first global ad campaign, which stars David Harbour from the hit Netflix series Stranger Things.

‘It’s Your Run’ features seven video spots, each with a voiceover from Harbour, who has been outspoken about his personal journey with running. “As someone who didn’t always consider themselves a runner, but recently came to appreciate what running can do for me both physically and mentally, I’m glad to be a part of Brooks’ It’s Your Run campaign,” Harbour told The Drum. “They recognize that running is not always easy, but celebrate every runner who’s out there finding their best run in their own creative way.”

The campaign follows the personal stories of many runners, down to the intimate thoughts that help them get to the finish line, such as counting dogs, gamifying the run route or catching up on the latest crime podcast.

In the 60-second spot ‘Anthem,’ a diverse group of runners embark on their individual workouts in their neighborhoods. Some beginners alternate between running and walking, while others display expert, swift sprints. “Runner for life, or running for the first time in your life, we celebrate every run,” Harbour says in the ad.

Brooks produces the top two franchise styles for adult performance running footwear in the industry: the Ghost at No 1 and the Adrenaline GTS at No 2. The campaign comes as the brand reported generating over $1.1bn in global revenue in 2021 – a 31% increase from 2020. The brand reports adding 8.6 million runners to its network since 2020.
