Ribena tells Meghan and Harry to keep their ‘chin up’ in Jubilee balcony stunt
Ribena has built its own stage for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle lookalikes after the couple were snubbed from the royal balcony at Buckingham Palace.
Ribena’s Jubilee stunt features Harry and Meghan lookalikes
The Jubilee stunt kicks off Ribena’s long-term £7m brand platform ‘Chin Up,’ which encourages people to laugh through life’s awkward moments. Ribena has included missing out on the iconic balcony wave as one of those moments.
BBH, the agency behind Ribena’s ‘Chin Up’ push, has also created the balcony installation, which is situated by Tower Bridge in London. “The stars aligned [so] that our campaign was launching at the same time as the Queen’s Jubilee, so we wanted to mark the occasion in our own Ribena-y way,” said Helen Rhodes, executive creative director at BBH.
The ad attached to the balcony reads, ‘When you’ve been a bit left out.’ At the activation Ribena will be handing out free drinks and blasting music to dance to, and the lookalikes will be signing autographs and taking selfies with the public.
Commenting on the pictures, Charlotte Flook, head of brand at Ribena, said: “We’ve been by our consumers’ sides for over 80 years and want to encourage everyone to have a laugh through life’s awkward situations ... even if missing out on one of most anticipated pictures of the year!”
The stunt follows the debut of its new TV ad spots that embrace embarrassing moments such as failing to park.
