TfL ads take strong stance against sexual harassment
Transport for London (TfL) has partnered with Rail Delivery Group, British Transport Police and Metropolitan Police to send a strong message out to its users – sexual harassment of any kind will not be tolerated on the network.
TfL ads take strong stance against sexual harassment
The campaign aims to raise awareness of what constitutes sexual harassment and de-normalize the acceptance of these behaviors and was created by Wavemaker, VCCP and OTM.
By educating transport users on acts like catcalling, pressing, and upskirting, TfL hopes that Londoners traveling on the services will look out for each other, and where possible, offer emotional support if they witness an incident.
“No one should be subjected to sexual harassment on our transport network and we are determined to challenge acceptance of these behaviors,” said Miranda Leedham, head of customer marketing & behavior change at TfL.
“This new campaign, combined with tactics to improve education and awareness, will be pivotal in demonstrating that any form of sexual assault will quite simply not be tolerated on our network."
Sexual harassment disproportionately impacts women and girls but it’s crucial that everyone knows what that can look like, so it can be recognized and reported. The ads will run across social and key digital sites with further amplification on Ladbible, Pink News and Stylist.
“Any journey on the TfL network - be it the commute to work or to visit family and friends - should feel safe and the method of transport a welcoming place for all,” added Gavin Laisby managing partner at Wavemaker.
“We are proud to have been part of this invaluable campaign, which despite its multiple platforms pulls together the voice of the wider community to tell one story: if you see or experience sexual harassment, it’s crucial to report it so that we can take action to make public transportation a safer place for all.”
