Empire to run 30 old movie covers to celebrate 30th birthday
Bauer Media’s film magazine Empire will publish 30 split covers for its September issue, taking a look at some of the biggest movies ever produced as it hits its 30th birthday.

30 covers focus on 30 movies from 30 years from 1989 to 2018 - starting with Tim Burton's Batman and proceeding to Ryan Coogler's Black Panther.
The content and marketing play runs with a promotion to drive new subscribers (or those who may have read these movie reviews at some point over the last three decades).
The movies were selected for their commercial success, cinematic prowess, cultural significance and their impact on the Empire audience.
Commenting on the covers, Empire editor-in-chief Terri White, said: “How do you sum up 30 years of cinema and 30 years of Empire? It turns out it took several rows, a few sulks and the odd impassioned plea for the Empire team to agree on the 30 films that should grace our covers – just one from each year. Even at a glance, it’s a story of how film has evolved, starting with Tim Burton’s Batman journeying through Toy Story, The Matrix, Spirited Away, Avatar, Gravity and ending on Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther. What a 30 years it’s been, for both us and for cinema.”
