Weetabix’s head of brand, Kevin Verbruggen, has left the cereal business, departing in the same month as its senior shopper marketing manager.

Verbruggen was behind the revival of 'Have You Had Your Weetabix'

Verbruggen departed the Northamptonshire-based company in December after five years with the cereal giant.

The marketer has since launched an independent consultancy focusing on global brand and innovation strategy.

Before taking on the head of brand role, Verbruggen worked for just over three years as Weetabix’s head of innovation and global brand development.

He leaves at the same time as senior shopper marketing manager Victoria Westwood, who joined cosmetics company Avon as global senior brand manager earlier this month.

Verbruggen confirmed Weetabix is actively hiring a permanent replacement for the head of brand job.

In a post on LinkedIn, he wrote: “I'm grateful for the opportunities I had: adding value to the Weetabix business; helping make protein cereals & drinks mainstream; visiting some fantastic places around the world; re-igniting the ‘Have You Had Your Weetabix?’ campaign; and taking an IPA Award to a kebab house.

“I'm excited about my new opportunities for 2019, and also in seeing further success for Weetabix.”
