The awards calendar for the creative sector has a brand-new addition in the form of The VOWSS, a showcase of the best work to be produced by female creatives from around the world.

Inaugural VOWSS Awards celebrates female creatives

Organised by Vow and SheSays, an organisation offering free mentorship and events for women based in 21 global cities, the initiative is geared toward giving women a leg up in the creative and marketing sectors by their recognizing their finest work.

Held yesterday evening at Cannes the first winners to walk away with an award include the likes of Alice Tonge, creative director for Channel 4’s ‘We Are the Superhumans’ as well as Colleen DeCourcy and Susan Hoffman, Global CCOs at Wieden + Kennedy, who came away with an award of distinction.

Headline sponsors of the event comprised Facebook Creative Shop, independent creative agency Mr. President and creative media group Rise.

Preparations for VOWSS 2018 are already underway with the winning work to be made available for view via the SheSays Facebook page.

VOWSS 2017 winners:

Creative Direction: Alice Tonge, Creative Director of “We Are the Superhumans” for Channel 4

Film Direction: The Mundo Sisters - Rena Mundo Coshere and Nadine Mundo - directors of “A Field Between,” for Film 45 and CNN Films

Award of Distinction: Colleen DeCourcy and Susan Hoffman, Global CCOs at Wieden + Kennedy

Student Talent: Naomi Taylor, student at the School of Communication Arts, 2.0, recognising her as an emerging creative talent

Audience Award: La Madre Buena - Sarah Clift
