Gillette gives 5-a-side players the chance to star in its Sky Sports football ads

The clips will feature in the ads during Sky Sports' Gillette Soccer Saturday show

Gillette is giving football fans the chance to star in its ads during Sky Sports’ flagship show, Gillette Soccer Saturday, through a nationwide competition encouraging budding 5-a-side teams can showcase their skills.

For the campaign, the male grooming brand has partnered with Powerleague football centres which have been fitted with video technology allowing players to capture key moments in games such as standout goals, impressive saves or moments of sublime skill.

The recordings are initiated when players hit a red button on the side of pitches at Powerleague centres at Enfield, Gateshead, Shrewsbury, Sunbury, Trafford and Wigan. Their clips will appear on the ‘Precision Play’ section of Gillette’s website where they can then submit it for consideration to feature in the ads.

Matt Thomas, Gillette and Venus brand manager, said: “Precision and innovation are at the heart of everything we do at Gillette. This campaign brings both of these together through a truly unique partnership with Powerleague and Gillette Soccer Saturday, enabling young guys to feature their 5-a-side precision moments on national TV.

“There’s also nothing quite like scoring a sublime goal, so naturally we want everyone who enters to share their clips with their friends”

The best clips, chosen each month by Gillette, will appear before and after each ad break on Gillette Soccer Saturday as well as during Sky Sports News HQ.
