Influencer marketing is gearing up to be the next big thing in advertising. Thanks to social media, marketers can now team up with an influencer to not only reach new audiences, but also connect with customers directly, building trust and credibility along the way.

But despite most marketers embracing influencer marketing as part of their strategy, many are still encountering roadblocks. A report from Econsultancy this year found that finding the right influencers remains a challenge for marketers. In a survey of fashion and beauty marketers, 73 per cent said identifying the right influencer was the biggest challenge followed by measuring the return on investment (65 per cent).

Retailer AllSaints knows all too well about the importance of influencer marketing, having used it to spread its own marketing message. On The Drum's Social Buzz sofa, Cass Gowing of AllSaints said brands have reached a "saturation point with influencers" and that people are well aware of "posts being paid for now".

The Drum will be tackling these obstacles at its office on Wednesday 26 October with a full day of discussions on influencer marketing. The day will kick off with its ‘Influencer Marketing Breakfast’ at 8:30am where industry experts will debate and discuss why marketers should not dismiss influencer marketing as just another cheap experiment. It will also get marketers up to speed on this hot new industry topic.

The influencer-packed day will then conclude with Curalate’s webinar, ‘Micro-Influencers: Seven Ways Niche Influencers Drive Successful Programs' from 3pm to 4pm BST. This will touch upon the issues discussed at the breakfast but also provide tips on how to build a successful influencer marketing strategy and most importantly, how to find and land the right micro-influencers.
