The kits, which have just started arriving for customers in the US, offer customers prepaid shipping options from Samsung and include a protective bag as well as thermally insulated boxes and gloves. The packaging warns that the handset must be shipped by ground only to avoid in-air explosions.

The company recently halted sales and exchanges of the product and advised users to turn off their devices following a series of incidents in which the phones exploded or caught fire due to their batteries. In September the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has warned travelers against using the phones onboard flights, with the final straw coming when one US flight was evacuated after one phone started smoking in the cabin.

The Galaxy Note 7 launched just two months ago, and the company is now expecting the return of over 1.5m phones. The firm has said consumers who purchased their Note 7 phones from mobile carriers should visit the carriers’ websites for recall instructions.
