Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s audacious personality and superior talent has made him a global footballing icon and now the Swedish striker is leveraging his famous personality for the launch of his new clothing brand, A-Z Sportwear.

Speaking at the brand’s launch in Paris yesterday, Ibrahimovic set out his objectives for what he would like A-Z Sportswear to achieve, modestly summing up his ambitions as “global” and taking on the likes of Nike, Adidas and Under Armour.

“We’re going against the big companies and we will take over, this is my objective,” said the 34 year-old.

Such bold assertions are typical of the man who often refers to himself in the third-person and famously said “a World Cup without Zlatan is not worth watching” when referring to Sweden’s failure to qualify for the World Cup in 2014.

The collection, which he is said to have personally designed, offers a range of sports apparel for men and children including t-shirts, shorts and tops and will also expand to offer a women’s range in near future.

Ibrahimovic also touched on the pricing point of the range in the live Q&A session when explaining the importance of affordability in a way that sportswear wasn't when he was growing up as a second-generation immigrant teenager playing football in the 90s.

“That is my inspiration also, giving back,” said Zlatan.

The 45 minute launch event was broadcast on Facebook Live, generating an audience of over 92,000 at its peak and registering almost a million total views overall.
