Brown, a sales and marketing executive with more than 15 years’ experience in the entertainment industry, will work from the league’s London office where she will oversee a sponsorship and consumer products team of six.

She will report to NFL UK managing director and will work with the organisation’s partners to open up more commercial opportunities.

Prior to the new role Brown spent six years as commercial director at Syco Entertainment where she was responsible for building brand partnerships for The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent. Among the deals she secured around The X Factor were multi-brand partnerships with Unilever and Reckitt Benckiser and partnerships with TRESemmé and Thorntons chocolates.

Speaking on her appointment Brown said: “I’m thrilled to have joined the NFL team in London at such an exciting and pivotal time as we look to grow the sport in the UK even further,” said Melissa. “Hosting three games in London in 2016 for the third straight year and expanding to play in new stadia really cements us in the British sporting calendar.

“I’m looking forward to working with the fantastic team at the NFL and our partners to grow the opportunities for brands to be involved with this dynamic sport.”
