Lidl has partnered with the Scottish FA to support a new grassroots football initiative with school children.

The three year partnership will see Lidl invest in the Scottish FA’s Skills Centres to provide kit, equipment, coaching resources and marketing support for the scheme.

The grassroots campaign promises to provide opportunities in communities all over Scotland for boys and girls, of all abilities, aged five to 12 years-old to participate in an array of fun football activities.

Lidl’s UK purchasing director, Ryan McDonnell, was at Hampden Park’s training ground to launch the partnership alongside former Scotland international Darren Jackson and Scottish ladies international Suzanne Grant.

McDonnell said: “With our broad network of 90 stores across Scotland we have access to so many communities and this partnership really allows us to build on that and give something back.”

As part of the partnership Lidl will also be hosting a series of ‘Family Days’ throughout the three year partnership. The events will take place at numerous locations throughout Scotland and will allow children to try the informal and interactive coaching sessions which they can sign up for at their local Lidl Skills Centre.
