The hugely popular US chat show will be broadcast on ITV2 beginning 18 January with new episodes airing each weekday afternoon at 1:45pm.

Angela Jain, ITV’s director of digital channels and acquisitions said: "We're over the moon Ellen DeGeneres is joining ITV2. Her daily mix of Hollywood guests, topical comedy and great conversation is a welcome addition to the channel".

Commenting on the deal Ellen DeGeneres said: “After what feels like decades of campaigning I’m so excited that my show is on ITV2. I can literally feel my crumpets tingling down in my cockles.”

With 55 Daytime Emmys wins, nine for which were for Outstanding Daytime Talk Show, ITV2 will expect to boost its daytime audience numbers given the stature of guests the show is renowned for having.

Highlights from the most recent series include the cast of Star Wars, Hillary Clinton and popular returning guest Justin Bieber.

The show is now in its 13th year and was recently renewed by NBC for another four years.
