Sky Sports will tonight (4 January) kick off celebrations of the 1966 England World Cup victory including an ad break that will see brands and sponsors including Ford, Gillette, Ryan Air and Google turn their adverts black and white.

During tonight’s ‘Monday Night Football 1966 Special’ Sky Media will air a special ad break in the game to pay homage to the country’s footballing success.

Presenters Jamie Carragher and Ed Chamberlain will also bring a modern analysis of black and white footage of iconic players Bobby Moore, Sir Geoff Hurst and Alan Ball. The pair will use statistical data from Opta, the SkyPad touchscreen, and virtual reality from EA Sports, to see what impact the players had on the World Cup final between England and West Germany.

The ad break will air at 20:57 on Sky Sports.

A special double bill to begin a year of celebration will also feature the latest Sky Sports Originals documentary, a 90-minute programme looking back on the footballing achievement called 'The Boys of '66'.
