To shorten the waiting time until the farewell season of singing competition "American Idol", which is set to premiere on January 6, 2016, FOX launched an '#IdolMoments' video compilation tool on the show's official website on November 20. It allows fans to create and share a personalized highlight reel of their favorite "American Idol" moments. The tool and season as a whole are sponsored by car manufacturer Ford.

First, fans are asked to enter their name to make the highlight reel truly personal. In addition, they can have a look at what other fans have created to get an impression of how the finished '#IdolMoments' collections look like.

In the second step, fans are asked to select the videos of their personal highlight moments. The short clips of iconic moments from the show can be filtered by the categories 'AWW', 'LOL', 'OMG' and 'WTF'. To add a video to their highlight reel, fans simply need to click on the videos.

When hitting the 'Play' button, the fan's personal video compilation is generated and starts playing. Each highlight reel begins with a screen displaying the fan's name …

… before the actual highlights the fan selected are shown. Fans can share their highlight reel on Facebook or Twitter via the 'Share' button or make a new video.
