Manchester Utd takes TV channel MUTV to Indonesia
Premier League giants Manchester United are bringing their TV channel to Indonesia in an attempt to further cement its Asian footprint by bolstering support in one of the fastest growing football markets.
The channel is happening through a deal with football media company SuperSoccer that will build it into its programming on Dens.TV and Nexmedia. United claims to have 55 million Indonesian followers and the 24-hour channel is seen as a chance to strengthen their loyalty toward the club.
"Indonesia is home to some of Manchester United’s most loyal and passionate fans and the club is delighted to be partnering with SuperSoccer to provide our fans with access to MUTV,” said Richard Arnold, United’s group managing director.
"Available on a number of channels and platforms, supporters will now have the ability to view behind-the-scenes footage from Old Trafford and the Aon Training Complex, interesting documentaries on the history of the club and its supporters, as well as matchday build-up and coverage. It is an exciting time for fans in the country and we are pleased to be able to offer this service."
The announcement comes just days after the club’s arch rivals Liverpool FC quickened their expansion into Asia, partnering with leading Chinese video service provider PPTV, which will produce a Liverpool-themed television set next year.
