People who like their Twitter feeds just so can rejoice this morning following the release of a Google Chrome extension which undoes yesterday’s controversial decision to replace star icons symbolising favourites with heart shapes.

Fav Forever, Google Chrome

The Fav Forever extension is aimed squarely at those troubled by this move and promises to eradicate the interloping hearts in favour of the more familiar stars, much to the relief of an army of tweeters who spent much of yesterday rallying against the change.

Produced by American developer Reed Kavner the new extension amends tweets to show stars marked ‘favourite’ rather than hearts that say ‘like’.

In his description of the product Kavner wrote: “On November 3, 2015, the lives of millions of Twitter users were forever changed. Where yesterday there were stars, today there are hearts. Fav Forever brings the stars back."

Whilst not perfect, the extension has no effect on tweets displayed out with Twitter’s own site and profile pages still display ‘likes’ rather than favourites, Kavner is nevertheless proud of his fix.
