B&Q's Chris Moss has decided to step down from his role as customer and marketing director as new chief executive Michael Loeve readies a "new, internationally diverse" management team.

Moss, who has been in the role for two years, leaves the business just five months after the departure of former chief exec Kevin O'Byrne. During his tenure he was responsible for implementing B&Q's 2014 'Unleashed' marketing campaign.

Moss' resignation comes at a time of change for B&Q following O'Byrne's departure and that of commercial director and former Matalan chief executive Darren Blackhurst for Morrisons.

"He did a fantastic job re-energising B&Q’s advertising and marketing, and we wish him well in the future," said Loeve. "We are putting together a new, internationally diverse management team at B&Q, with a blend of skills and experience as we build a business where customer needs come first."

Moss added that his two-year stint had been a "brilliant experience" but as B&Q's strategy changes it is "time to step aside".

He will depart from the DIY retailer next month.
