Premier League star Jermain Defoe is advertising for a personal assistant to help create a ‘global brand’ around the Defoe name together with a new clothing line, fragrance range, sponsorships and iPhone apps.

This would see the lucky applicant tasked with growing the Sunderland striker's online reach via his personal website, Facebook and Twitter feeds as well as burnishing the his media image.

The multifaceted position carries a salary of £50-60k per year and carries no less than 54 individual areas of responsibility, including menial tasks such as organising lunch, household chores and managing the diaries of both Dafoe and his mother, Sandra.

Posted on SecsintheCity, a jobs board for administrative positions, the advert read: “You will be working for a high-profile individual within the sports industry so the candidate must therefore, by nature, be very flexible, hands-on and be capable multitasking, most importantly you must maintain the highest level of confidentiality in order to assist the manager. “

As part of this role, the new recruit would be asked to work with designers to help select the Sunderland striker's wardrobe; with clothing chosen from a handpicked range of select stores including Ozwald Boateng, Harrods and ZAP.
