Russell Brand has uploaded the ‘final’ instalment of his political YouTube channel The Trews as the comedian takes a break from all social media ‘for a while’.

Addressing his 1.1m subscibers in an accompanying statement Brand wrote: “I’m disappearing for a while. Thank you to everyone who's watched and spread the Trews. I know that real change is coming. Russell X.”

In the final episode, the 366th to be aired by Brand, the comedian said: “It feels to me like a spiraling sort avalanche and I want to spend some time learning, understanding, developing, living a life outside of a crazy kind of discourse.

"So I'm not going to be doing the Trews. I'm not going to be on Twitter or Facebook I'm going to be learning because I know real change is coming and I want to be part of that."

The Trews became the focus of national media attention in the dying days of the 2015 general election campaign when Labour leader Ed Miliband dropped by in a desperate attempt to win over non-voters.

Fans of Brand’s revolutionary style needn’t be too down heartened as the star promises to return after he has ‘learned some stuff’.
