Symone is no stranger to the cameras, as she had been acting since she was a child, starring in The Cosby Show and later appearing in her own sitcom on The Disney Channel.
She had filled in as a guest host on the show many times, and producers were keen to give her a permanent role.
"I am so happy. I remember coming on The View when I was 15 years old for The Cheetah Girls," Symone said. "I'm very happy to be sitting with these smart, talented mentors. Let's have some fun!"
She will be joining Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie Perez, Nicolle Wallace who are also permanent faces on the all-female on-screen cast.
