Spotify unveils social network music chart showing the best tracks your friends are listening to
Spotify has launched a tool designed to let users see what tracks friends on their social networks are listening to.
Spotify will ranks your friends favourite tracks
The feature, available on both mobile and tablet only initially, has been created to help make music more of a social experience for users by collating a chart of the most-listened-to tracks from their Facebook and Twitter friends.
The list, which was first pitched at a company hackathon, will be updated daily.
The Swedish firm implemented the feature to try and entice more music lovers to sign up to its premium £9.99 a month subscription service - which accounts for most of its income.
Premium users will be able to pick and choose which of their friends' tracks they listen to whereas free users will only be able to shuffle through the playlist.
Although Spotify serves as the world’s largest music streaming website - in 2013, it made a £46m loss due to an extensive international expansion operation.
