Relish, the 4G wireless network, offered Londoners £50 if they could dial their landline number off the top of their heads, in its latest video ad.

Aimed at showing how landlines have become a thing of the past, the experiment highlighted just how few people know their number, or even use it.

It was found that nearly half of Londoners only keep their home phone so they can access the internet, and almost 40 per cent don’t know their own home phone number.

As a 4G wireless network, Relish looked to show how many people only have their landline for the sole purpose of accessing the internet, leading to unnecessary line charges.

It was also found that 56 per cent don’t know how much they’re paying for their landline each month.
