Ricky Tomlinson will return to the role of Mike Bassett

The Camden-based agency has been tasked with creating a buzz for the film, which stars Ricky Tomlinson, especially during the early stages of its development.

Co-producers Fulwell 73 and Riley Filmshave have opened the final eight per cent of funding to Kickstarter to give the eccentric England Manager’s followers the chance to get involved with donations in return for scalable gifts.

Frank PR's responsibilities will initially be to encourage fans to partake in the Kickstarter, which will run from 13 October to 20 November. Furthermore, the agency will concentrate on content-led activations to generate discussions regarding the film.

Andrew Bloch, group managing director and founder of Frank PR, said: "We're absolutely delighted to announce our latest signing, not least because we're an agency full of Mike Bassett fanatics, at the end of the day, we can't wait to give 110 per cent for the gaffer and we're fully fit and raring to go.

"The Kickstarter element is especially exciting. To be part of a film that can genuinely claim to be for the fans, by the fans, is a fantastic perk."

Leo Pearlman, partner at Fulwell 73, added: "We're delighted to be working with Frank PR. Their enthusiasm, creativity and understanding of both sport and digital platforms made them the perfect partner for this project.

“We're approaching this film in an untraditional manner, so it made sense to go with an agency who look at things differently."

The movie will start filming early in 2015.
