There are over one billion video views a day on Facebook, the platform has revealed, with more than 65 per cent of these coming from mobile.

Facebook released the figures as it rolled out a new feature that will allow viewers to see exactly how many times each video has been watched.

Coming just a few months after Facebook introduced video metrics for companies, the new feature will be available for both people and pages.

Fidji Simo, product management director for video at Facebook, said of the move: “The goal of News Feed is to deliver the right stories to the right people at the right time, from the people and things you care about. And more people than ever before are seeing, sharing and expressing themselves with video on Facebook. We’re committed to making Facebook the best place to share, discover and watch videos, and we’ll keep listening to feedback to improve video on Facebook.”

Facebook also revealed that it is testing a tool that means when someone finishes watching a video, they will be shown additional related videos that they might find interesting.
