Snapchat has rolled out a new feature, Our Story, which allows for the creation of public collections of images and videos taken at public events, even with people not on their friends list.

The new function acts like Storify, with all snaps from the event - such as a football match or a gig – able to be shared to create a public Snapchat Story.

However, the Story does not show the names of who took each image or video, with just the content itself appearing. To add an image to the Story, users need to turn on their location services, to confirm that they are actually at the event.

The company explained: “When you submit a snap to an event’s Our Story, the event’s Our Story will be added as your friend for 24 hours.

“Depending on the volume of snaps submitted to an event’s Our Story, not everyone’s snaps may be published.”

The function was trialled at the World Cup and EDC Live, and has now been launched as an official part of Snapchat.

Making the announcement in its blog, Snapchat said: “You’ll notice that there’s a new “Live” section beneath your Recent Updates. That’s where you’ll be able to experience Stories contributed by the Snapchat community at all sorts of events. It’s a great way to check out what’s happening around the world.”
