Walmart has introduced a number of changes to its website to that will see the homepage tailored to individual customers based on their previous purchases and location.

Depending on where the customer lives, the homepage will feature local weather and events while products will be recommended based on previous searches and purchases.

The new feature comes ahead of a planned overhaul to the site in early 2015 having seen a 30 per cent increase in ecommerce sales to over $10bn for the year ending 31 January 2014.

Walmart - parent company of Asda - is also planning to streamline the online checkout process by reducing the number of pages it takes, currently six, to get to the “buy” button.
