Online holiday rental site HomeAway has hired former Visa Europe chief marketing officer Mariano Dima to the same role as it looks to launch a new global marketing push.

Dima, who previously worked at Vodafone, Levi Strauss & Co and PepsiCo, has been tasked with overseeing all global marketing, corporate communications and brand initiatives and teams for the group.

The company today (4 August) reported a 32 per cent increase in revenue in the second quarter from $86.6m to $114.3m, while listings on the site hit one million.

Brian Sharples, chief executive of HomeAway said:”In regards to our e-commerce initiatives, we've seen a sharp acceleration in adoption in recent quarters. With much of our platform and product investment behind us, the next few years will mark a renewed focus on marketing as we strive to make HomeAway one of the most recognized and respected travel brands in the world.”

Dima will join in September and will split his time between the company's Austin and London offices.
