A Belgian beauty who won a modeling contract with L’Oreal at the FIFA World Cup has been quickly dumped by the skincare brand after pictures of her on a big game hunt emerged.

The seventeen year-old has been slammed by critics online

Social media erupted when images showing 17-year old Axelle Despiegelaere, holding a rifle and posing next to a dead animal emerged.

Posted before Belgium’s victory over the USA, the image read: "Hunting is not a matter of life or death. It's much more important than that..this was about 1 year ago...ready to hunt Americans today haha."

The young Belgian, whose world cup images had her branded the world’s most beautiful football fan, quickly learned that fame is fickle after images of her hunt also spread like wildfire - with social networkers harshly criticising her.

A Facebook fan page for Axelle accumulated over 230,000 likes and her Facebook profile now has over 19,000 friends.

L’Oreal cut times with Despiegelaere, claiming she is not a spokesperson for the brand and that her contract was completed when she finished starring in a Belgian social media video for the company.
