Ian Hanson has joined Global as chief operating officer – a newly created role for the media and entertainment company.

Hanson, who has joined from DMGT where we was group operations director, has been charged with working across Global’s radio, talent and publishing entertainment divisions.

“The radio division is among the best in the world, and it’s good to be returning to the music and entertainment business,” said Hanson. “I’ve followed Global’s progress closely since the company was created and I have huge admiration for the success that the team at Global has achieved.”

Prior to DMGT Hanson spent 18 years at EMI in a variety of senior roles culminating in him becoming chief operating officer of EMI Music Worldwide in 2007.

He reports to Stephen Miron, group CEO of Global.
