JWT Europe’s European marketing director, Carmen Bekker, has been named the new co-chair of the IPA new business and marketing group, replacing Cormac Loughran.

Co-chair: Carmen Bekker

Bekker joins Leo Burnett managing director Katie Lee as co-chair, and brings more than 15 years of industry experience to the role. She currently leads JWT’s account with Debenhams, and has managed accounts for clients such as Nestlé, Diesel, Rimmel and Unilever.

“I am delighted to be taking on the role as co-chair of the group with Katie and look forward to building on the good work that Cormac has initiated,” Bekker said.

“The group plays a valuable role in developing standards, industry training and peer review. New business is critical to agencies and a major decision for marketing directors and their teams. Continuing to make the process more transparent, more efficient and effective is something that we are sure will be welcomes on both sides.”

Outgoing co-chair Loughran was heavily involved in the creation of the Good Pitch Week during his tenure, and helped produce an industry standard RFI template for media agencies.
