Video content provider Maker Studios has named former general manager of Vice Media’s AdVice ad network Dan’L Hewitt as UK managing director.

Appointment: Dan'l Hewitt

Hewitt will oversee the UK operation of the company, which counts 5.5 billion monthly video views and 380 million subscribers mainly from the millennial audience, and he brings more than 15 years of senior management experience in the digital media industry to the role. Most recently, Hewitt co-found native advertising marketplace Voower, and he has previously held positions at Yahoo, Bebo/AOL and Demand Media.

René Rechtman, president of International, Maker Studios, said: “With the UK being the home of our international headquarters, it is fundamental that we hire remarkable people to drive our business forward. Dan’l’s proven experience in building brand partnerships and solutions that support and encourage creative output will prove invaluable as we continue to build our global economy.”

Hewitt added: “Joining Maker Studios at this stage of its international growth provides an incredible opportunity to build on the existing success of the company, to further develop sustainable and measurable commercial content models, and support original, creative talent who resonate with and delight global audiences.”

While at Vice, Hewitt invested effort into creating the “next generation” audience ad network aiming to help itself and publishers generate better revenue from video and branded content.
