STV has revealed a growth in total airtime revenue of between 5 and 7 per cent within its first quarter trading results, while digital revenue was up by between 15 - 20 per cent.

The Scottish broadcaster, which is set to roll out its new local TV station, STV Glasgow on 2 June, revealed that national airtime revenue had risen by 5 per cent, while the Scottish marketplace alone had grown by 7 per cent during the first quarter. In April alone, airtime revenue has been predicted to increase by 18 per cent, while total airtime revenue between January and May is expected to be up by 7 per cent.

Rob Woodward, CEO of STV Group, said: “All areas of the business are continuing to perform in line with expectations against our updated growth KPI targets and we are excited about expanding our portfolio of consumer services with the launch of the first of our City TV services, STV Glasgow, in early June."

With the new Glasgow channel scheduled to launch in the summer, the second local TV service in Edinburgh has yet to be given a date to begin broadcasting.

Woodward also revealed that consultant Vasa Babic was set to retire from the board this month after seven years.
