Facebook could be set to launch a mobile advertising network at the F8 conference this month, according to reports.

It is believed that, if true, the network could provide better ad targeting, using the data gathered by Facebook.

Re/code, which first announced the news, also indicated that this would see Facebook increase its ad reach, even when users are not on Facebook itself.

Figures from January saw that mobile advertising revenue on Facebook has risen by 53 per cent, while mobile monthly users increased by 39 per cent to 945 million.

The news comes just days after Twitter announced that publishers will be able to promote mobile apps to one billion devices, both on and off Twitter, following the social platform's acquisition of MoPub.
