A decision may come soon over the £1m contract for PR and public affairs contract to improve the reputation Russia has in the UK and United States.

The Russian government currently uses Omnicom agencies, including Ketchum, Portland and G-Plus, but it is believed that the Kremlin is in talks with at least two other global consortiums, as PR becomes a major focus.

A source told Public Affairs News: “It’s really about winning the battle for public opinion via the media and the parliamentary route.

“They are aware of how they are perceived in the West. The problem is most acute in the UK and in the United States.”

It is unclear if the full account will be given to one agency, or if it will be split up.
