Frittering away hours and days browsing random YouTube videos may not be as unproductive as it first appears, at least in the case of one pair of French twins who were separated at birth and adopted.

Anais Bordier, now living in London, was sent a link to a YouTube clip by a friend after noticing one of the people featured bore an uncanny resemblance to her – even though they spoke in an American accent, not French.

Suitably intrigued Bordier began some ‘light stalking’ of the mysterious doppelganger, discovering that her name was Samantha Futerman, an aspiring actress with credits including Memoirs of a Geisha.

Like Bordier she was born in Seoul, South Korea on Nov 19, 1987… and then it clicked. Bordier had gone to adoptive parents in France whilst Futerman had been brought up in New Jersey.

Speaking to the Sunday Times Bordier said: “I was terrified and excited at the same time.Sam responded with a picture of her birth records. There was nothing there to say she was a twin but then she sent pictures through and it seemed to settle it. It felt like having a heart attack, but it was also the happiest moment - a new world was opening.”

The pair have since struck up a friendship and are seeking to film their experiences via a Kickstarter funded documentary.
