MWW, one of the top five independent PR agencies in the United States, has appointed Simon Gentry as director of its new London office.

Gentry, who has joined from Good Relations, has been tasked with providing clients with public affairs support in London and Brussels, and to expand MWW's offering in London.

In moving to MWW he has also brought with him two clients: the ATM Industry Association and Cash Zone.

Patrick Herridge, UK Managing Director, MWW, commented on the hire, saying: "Simon has an incredible track record and excellent reputation for intelligent, successful public affairs campaigns and he's going to be a great addition to the team. Expanding into public affairs is going to enable us to reach into new markets whilst at the same time enhancing our existing corporate offer to clients in a range of vertical sectors."

The appointment comes after MWW acquired Parys Communications, a UK consumer and B2B shop whose clients include mobile operator Three, BBC Worldwide and News UK.

The purchase was a major step in MWW’s plans to expand into Europe, which the founder, Patrick Herridge, has said will involve opening at least three to four offices by the end of 2014.
