Amazon Instant Video, Amazon’s movie and TV subscription service, has revealed that it is working with the likes of Samsung, Warner Bros., Lionsgate, 20th Century Fox and other leading consumer electronics companies, Hollywood studios and TV programmers to offer more 4K Ultra HD content.

The move comes after Amazon announced last month its plans to invest in 4K content, confirming that Amazon Studios would start shooting all 2014 full original series in 4K Ultra HD.

As well working with top studios, Amazon is also forging relationships with electronics companies, like Samsung, which will soon be releasing its biggest line of Ultra HD TVs. Kyungshik Lee, Samsung’s SVP of the service strategy team of visual display business said in a statement that “2014 will be a breakthrough year for Ultra HD” and that Samsung “is excited to work with content services like Amazon Instant Video".

Explaining what the continued investment in Ultra HD means for Amazon, Bill Carr, vice president of digital video and music, said: "Customers are excited about the future of 4K and the next evolution of high resolution video. We're working with consumer electronics leaders and Hollywood studios to make that a reality.

"There are a number of elements that need to work together to create a true 4K experience for customers--you need great content and compatible devices but you also need a service that can deliver that content to your devices so that it plays beautifully--we're excited about making that a reality."
