Waitrose apologises to columnist after air brushing out her tattoos in magazine
Waitrose has apologised for air brushing the tattoos of poverty campaigner Jack Monroe out of a picture within one of its magazines. Monroe tweeted her own surprise at the image appearing alongside her column, showing her left shoulder without her tattoo of a pack of cards and a red rose below that. “Thanks to Waitrose Kitchen, I now know what I would look like without my tattoos. :-/” she tweeted, before entering into a dialogue about it with followers through her A Girl Named Jack Twitter account.

@tim_brannigan @tamsinchan @lucyfurleaps @waitrose NO. I'd have put a jumper on, I would NOT have consented to airbrushing. FFS .

Some hours later, Waitrose tweeted an apology for the image, which stated: “Hi Jack, this was an error - we're very sorry. All our photos of you in Nov edition show your tattoos very clearly.”@MsJackMonroe Hi Jack, this was an error - we're very sorry. All our photos of you in Nov edition show your tattoos very clearly.

A spokesperson for Waitrose told The Huffington Post: "Jack's tattoos were clearly visible in the three pictures of her in the November issue of Kitchen."Unfortunately an error was made in the January edition. We're very sorry for any upset caused."If you look at the November issue, you can see that we really don't have a problem with tattoos in our publications."Monroe later tweeted that she did not believe that the error was on behalf of the photographer who she counted as a friend. @ElethaWhite @darlinglovelies I know the photographer and count him as a friend so would be very surprised, I don't think he did!
