Justin Bieber and Will Smith picture the most popular on Instagram for 2013
Instagram has revealed that Justin Bieber's picture of himself with Will Smith was the most popular post on the platform for 2013.
On the same week that Instagram launching its new bespoke photo sharing initiative ‘Instagram Direct’,the platform has also published its review of the year, which details the most significant Instagram moments of 2013.
The post featuring Bieber and Smith was liked by 1.5 million people making it the most liked Instagram of 2013.
However the celebrity with the largest number of followers was revealed to be Harry Styles of One Direction fame with 5,718,541 followers closely followed by fellow band member Niall Horan with 4,565,578 followers.
Third was One Direction’s joint Instagram account, which shows that their fans are avid users of the photo sharing site.
The most Instagrammed day of 2013 which was Thanksgiving/ the first day of Hannukah and the most geotagged city was New York.
Although many would associate Instagram with pictures of food shared between friends, it has also welcomed some new political users this year, such as Michelle Obama and George W Bush.
2013 was certainly a big year for the company. Not only did it celebrate its third birthday but 160 million people uploaded over 50 million photos.
