The Drum has been named media brand of the year at the PPA Independent Publisher Awards, where its editor Gordon Young also picked up the coveted editor of the year award.

Today’s accolades, announced at a ceremony at Montcalm Marble Arch in London, top off a hugely successful year for The Drum which has already been named business magazine of the year at the 2013 PPA Magazine Awards.

Commenting on the achievements, Gordon Young said: “We really are chuffed to get this recognition.

“It's a cliché but I feel a bit of a fraud picking up the award for editor of the year. The reality is that my superb team deserve the credit – not only for winning the main PPA magazine of the year award, and today’s recognition, but also for building the best-read marketing website in the UK.”

2013 has been a year of continued growth for The Drum as we opened our first London office, welcomed a number of new faces to our editorial team and increased unique visitors to thedrum.com by 70 per cent according to year-on-year statistics.

At a time when other publishers are cutting back, The Drum looks set to grow even further in 2014 as we look to add three new staff to our editorial team to meet the increasing demand for our web and print journalism.
