Gumtree surpasses 150m advert milestone
Classified advert site Gumtree has notched up its 150 millionth advert, a woman’s second-hand mountain bike, a major milestone for the website which launched way back in March 2000.
To celebrate the landmark number Gumtree awarded £150 to both the seller; Gerrard Davies and buyer, Lizzie Gradwell.
Commenting on her win Gradwell, who stumped up £40 for the refurbished Raleigh, said: “It’s my first time using Gumtree so it’s amazing. I’m excited to be involved.”
Since being launched by Simon Crookall and Michael Pennington Gumtree has gone on to appear in five countries and was purchased by eBay back in 2005.
It currently attracts 8m British users every month who post 100,000 ads each and every day.
