John Lewis has launched a YouTube hunt to find an unsigned artist to replace Lily Allen for a new version of its Christmas ‘Bear and the Hare’ advertisement.

A YouTube version of the commercial has been viewed more than seven million times since being uploaded a fortnight ago but now the department store is inviting viewers to upload their own covers of the Lily Allen track, ‘Somewhere Only We Know’, which plays during the piece.

Rock band Keane, who penned the original version of the track, will help decide the winner of the contest before it is recorded at a London studio and given a one-off screening on Christmas Day.

John Lewis spokesperson Craig Inglis said: ”This will give an unsigned artist a platform to showcase their talent and we hope a Christmas they will never forget.”
